Shelby Dean Volrath

Westminster- Shelby Dean Volrath, 79, wife of the late Marvin Franklin Volrath, passed away Monday, January 24th, 2022 at the Residence at Park Place.

 

Born in Oconee County, South Carolina, Shelby was the daughter of the late Charles Wesley Nalley and Louise Carroll Nalley.  Shelby proudly worked for Oakway Schools for 31 years as an OSRIS operator and was a member of Oakway Wesleyan Church.   Shelby loved crocheting and her favorite time of the year was Christmas when she would give out small crocheted ornaments.  Shelby also enjoyed baking and her trademark was her fresh-baked pound cakes.

 

Shelby is survived by a son, Mike Nalley (Carol) of Oakway; daughter, Sheree N. Link (Steven) of Silver Spring, Maryland; four grandchildren, Paul Nalley (Nikki), David Nalley (Staci), Samantha Nalley, Jason Nalley, and two great-grandchildren, Jacob Nalley, Ryan Nalley.

 

In addition to her husband and parents, Shelby is preceded in death by a brother, Daniel “Sam” Clayton Nalley; and sister, Betty Ann Ellingsworth.

 

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm, Friday, January 28th, 2022 at Sandifer Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Heritage Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Thursday, January 27th, 2022 at Sandifer Funeral Home.

 

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and concerns for the health of family and friends, Shelby’s family respectfully asks that all who attend the service please wear a mask and practice social distancing.
