Sharon “Sallie” Friedlander

 

Atlanta, Georgia-Sharon Louise “Sally” Harbin Friedlander, beloved mother and grandmother “Boo,” died Sunday, November 17, 2024, age 86, at Emory St. Joseph’s Hospital surrounded by the peace of God and wrapped in the love of her family.

 

Born in Westminster, SC she graduated from Westminster High School and Anderson Hospital School of Nursing. She was married to Robert Alan Friedlander. She worked at Oconee Hospital in Seneca, SC, Anderson Memorial Hospital where her picture graces the historical wall, Doctors Hospital in Washington, D.C., and Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital in Atlanta, GA. She also was a nurse for general practitioners and a pediatric endocrinologist. Changing direction, she became a real estate broker and manager for Realty Associates in Atlanta and broker and comptroller for ReMax of Atlanta. She established her own Brokerage and Computer Consulting business.

 

Sally is predeceased by her parents, Margaret Harbin King, and James and Dorothy Louise Harbin Marcengill, brother, Gene King, and granddaughter, Madison Friedlander.

She is survived by her children, Beverly Friedlander Ostrowski (Martha Starnes) of TN, Jeff Friedlander (Sherri Milks) of Calera, AL, grandchildren: Justin Ostrowski (Deepi Koganti) of Atlanta, Megan Ndongi (Kevin) of Marietta, GA, Morgan Blanks (Gabriel) of Boston, MA, Benjamin Friedlander, Amanda Friedlander, Rachel Friedlander, all of AL, and great-grandchildren Hazel and Jalen Ndongi, Chai, Judah and Kefira Friedlander, Moshe and Shlomo Blanks (and one on the way). Additional surviving family includes brothers Roger Marcengill (Gail), Jimmy King (Dale), sister Linda Robinson (Tony) and sister-in-law Barbara King.

 

The page would be un-ending with the names of her beloved cousins, nieces and nephews and greats who made her heart swell, including Angie Marcengill Robinson, Shawn Smith (Doug) and Keith Robinson (Tina) and their beloved children Tara, Luke and Gabe who have been special caregivers and companions over the years. Sally will also be remembered by friends across the country.

 

A Funeral Service will be held 12:00 pm, November 23rd, 2024 at Sandifer Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Retreat Presbyterian Church in Westminster, South Carolina. The family will receive friends 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Sandifer Funeral Home prior to the service. The services will be officiated by Rabbi Jeff Friedlander and The Rev. Beverly Friedlander Ostrowski. Pallbearers will be Justin Ostrowski, Ben Friedlander, Kevin Ndongi, Keith Robinson, Steve Owens, Brian King, Greg Harbin, Michael King, and Honorary Doug Smith.

 

Flowers are optional, per Sally, who stated she preferred donations to Hospice, The William Day DAR in Duluth, GA for the work they do for our service men and women and our veterans, and The Tamassee DAR school in Salem, SC.
