Seneca makes aesthetic move downtown

New business and property owners have begun to invest in Seneca’s commercial district downtown.  Now city government is responding with a move to enhance the looks of its core commercial area.  The Light and Water Department has begun a project to bury electric power lines running along N. and S. Walnut to the railroad crossing.  “Number one is aesthetics,” says utilities director Bob Faires.  “But we do have issues in that area with poles in the middle of property and we want to clean that up, as well.”  Light and Water is applying expansion funds to what is an expensive project, but Faires says his department can look forward to being replenished with funds once the city receives tornado cleanup re-imbursement money from “FEMA”—the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
