Security component being added to Pine Street

Office space inside the Oconee County government complex on Walhalla’s S. Pine Street is being re-configured to accommodate a security officer, as provided by the county Sheriff’s Office. The staffing of a security officer during the work day is seen as protection for staff and the public, in the event something of a bad nature occurs. At the outset, according to both Sheriff Mike Crenshaw and County Administrator Amanda Brock, there will be no change to public accesses. However, Crenshaw told 101.7/WGOG NEWS, “As we move forward, we have discussed the possibility of making the large rear parking area designated for the public and reducing the number of entrance doors. We will work with Administrator Brock with any changes.”
