SDOC is pleased to announce new administrative hire

At its meeting on Monday, May 11th, the School Board of Oconee County approved the hiring of Alden Broome to fill the role of assistant principal at Walhalla High School for the 2020-2021 school year. When asked about it, Superintendent, Dr. Michael Thorsland said, “Alden has been a tremendous asset to our district in the classroom and in athletics. We look forward to seeing him further his career in this new leadership role.” Alden, a Walhalla High School graduate, has taught in the district for the last seven years, including the last two at Walhalla High. In addition to teaching social studies, he has also served as a co-athletic director. Mr. Broome holds a Bachelor’s degree from Lander University in Secondary Social Studies and a Master’s from Clemson University in Educational Leadership. He lives in Walhalla with his wife, Kayla, and a 2-year-old daughter, Olivia. They are expecting their second baby girl, Kennedy, in June. “I am honored to achieve my goal of serving as an assistant principal at my alma mater. I cannot wait to serve our school and community in a different role.
