Recreation task force meeting tomorrow

The plight of the Fair-Oak Youth Center’s recreation program is expected to be batted around tomorrow afternoon during a meeting of the task force that serves as an advisory committee to county’s elected leaders, the county council. 101.7/WGOG NEWS has been told the municipal recreation directors will be at tomorrow’s meeting. According to the agenda, each group will get five minutes to address the committee. The inability to schedule games with municipal recreation departments remains a sore issue with the Fair-Oak Youth Center. Its leader, Terry Swain, says, “We want to find out the reason we were voted out of recreation in Oconee County.” The meeting comes a week after the county council approved a resolution “affirming its commitment to promote fair and equitable access to the resources and activities available in Oconee County which make the county an extraordinary place to live, work, and play.”
