Reckless homicide case tops trial docket

A case alleging reckless homicide on South Carolina 28 in the Bountyland Community last year is in position number one for trial during an Oconee General Sessions Court term June 24-28. It’s the case of South Carolina v. Thomas James Kirby. A Walhalla resident, Kirby was arrested by the highway patrol about three weeks after an accident that took the life of a front seat car passenger in the Bountyland traffic light intersection. Linda Ann Roose, 71 years old, was riding in a car driven by her husband, John Roose. Mrs. Roose died. The patrol identified the second car as driven by Kirby, who was reported not injured. Judge Lawton McIntosh will preside at this month’s General Sessions term at the Oconee Courthouse.
