Ray Wardlaw
Clifford Ray Wardlaw went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 28th, 2022.
Born July 13, 1939 in Oconee County, SC, Ray was the son of the late Clifford G. and Amanda Cobb Wardlaw. He retired from Regal Textiles at LaFrance Industries with over thirty-five years of service, also retiring as a butcher from Bi-Lo in Pendleton, and most recently retired from Anderson Ford with over twenty years of service as their Courtesy Van Driver. Ray was a proud member of the Hejaz Shrine Club in Mauldin, which raises money for the Shriners Hospitals for Children across the country. He had a deep love for his family and will always be remembered as the best Daddy and Papa.
Out of all of the hats he wore, being a family man was closest to his heart. He never met a stranger, was adored by many, loyal to his friends, and dedicated to his community. The time not spent with his family was spent listening to bluegrass music, watching the Yankees play baseball, cheering on the Clemson Tigers, and driving down back country roads.
Survivors include his daughter, Krystel Morris (Michael) of Anderson; two grandchildren, Jamie Morris Rodgers (James) of Kingsland, GA, Jordan Morris Hewitt (Ryan) of Greenwood, SC; four great-grandchildren; Easton James Rodgers, Keelyn Raye Hewitt, Beau Jameson Rodgers, and Luke James Rodgers; Son-in-law, Richard James of Anderson; Brother, Jim Wardlaw (Becky) and family of Iowa.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Angie LuRay Wardlaw James, his sister, Lucille Wardlaw, and brother, Willie “Bill” Wardlaw. Ray will be remembered and missed by all.
A funeral service will be held at LaFrance Church of God at 11:00 am on January 2, 2023 with burial to follow at Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends and family from 10:00 am to 11:00 am prior to the service, at LaFrance Church of God.
The family is at the residence. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ray’s memory may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 W. Farris Road, Greenville, SC 29605
