Rain and cooler weather ease drought conditons

A large ridge of high pressure that created the area’s hot and dry weather has been replaced by a trough of low pressure that ushered in clouds, rain and cooler weather.  That development, according to the South Carolina Drought Response Committee, is enough to completely remove the drought declaration completely for Oconee, Pickens and Anderson counties.  The incipient drought status was maintained in Greenville, Spartanburg, and six other counties.
