Property owner on the witness stand

Debbie Slisher rattled off a number of figures used to calculate the damages she claims to her Westminster area home and acreage by the taking of a power company that crossed her property for a transmission line near the Dr. John’s Road.  Called to the stand by her attorney, Slisher gave a figure of nearly $400 thousand loss to the home and property belonging to her and husband, Donald.  The Slishers’ property was on the route mapped out for a transmission line to connect two Blue Ridge Electric substations, and the couple objected to the condemnation award offered by the Central Electric Power Cooperative, power supplier for South Carolina co-ops.  The parties are in the Oconee Common Pleas Court this week seeking a jury to determine what’s called “just compensation.”
