Pre-dawn fire toll at a Salem mobile home

For a second day, fire fighters were out in force to extinguish home fires in the Salem area.  Today’s fire apparently broke out in the living room of an un-occupied mobile home on Bugs Road near the Shallowford Road.  Clint Livingston of Emergency Services says the home owner had left the premises about an hour earlier.  A neighbor, he said, heard an explosion preceded by what sounded like gun shots.  Because the fire scene was one thousand feet down a drive, fire fighters were forced to shuttle water to squelch the fire.  Around 18 hours earlier, fire caused minor damage to a home on Salem’s W. Main Street.  No injuries reported in either fire.
