Penetrating one’s way through the Medicare maze

South Carolina “A-COG” – the government service agency – may best be known for the financial assistance that it channels to local governments for utility lines, highway work, and community development throughout the Appalachian counties of Upstate South Carolina.  But did you know that “A-COG” also provides services to seniors, including the investigation of complaints about the quality of care in long-term care facilities?  A senior often will pay for his healthcare by enrolling in one of Medicare many plans, which can be complicating.  Steve Pellisier, the “A-COG” executive director, says his ombudsman is just a phone call away to help explain the many options.  The phone number is 864-242-9733.
