Part of new Tech campus named for state lawmaker

Those in the public and private sectors who gave money to make possible the multi-million dollar Oconee County campus of Tri-County Tech were remembered during today’s ribbon-cutting and dedication. But there was one official’s part to help secure the last bit of funding needed to make possible the campus would be ready for the 2018-19 year. And he was thanked in remarks by Tech President Booth with the announcement that part of the new building will carry the name of the “Senator Thomas Alexander Learning Commons.” Alexander appeared to have been caught by surprise. Booth praised all members of the Oconee state delegation, but he singled out Alexander because the Oconee-Pickens senator actually called him to ask if the project needed more money…and it did.
