Open door leads to house burglary arrest

An open door during the midnight hour Thursday in a Walhalla neighborhood raised the suspicions of a patrolling police officer.  And when the policeman saw the shadowy figure of a man through a window, the officer acted on his suspicions.  That resulted in the arrest of a 44-year old man, Bryan Ashley Evans, on multiple charges, including burglary second degree.  The policeman said he knew the house to be under renovations.  According to police department records, the owner was contacted.  He told the police no one was supposed to be inside the house.  Besides the burglary charge, Evans was also charged with possession of burglary tools, theft of electric current, possession of less than one gram of meth or cocaine, malicious injury to real property, and assault on a police officer while resisting arrest.
