Opal McCoy Reid

Walhalla, SC — Opal McCoy Reid, 90, wife of the late Fred John Reid, of 453 Coffee Road, Walhalla, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2020, at Seneca Health and Rehabilitation Center.

 

A native of Oconee County, SC, Mrs. Reid was the daughter of the late Leroy R. and Laura Bell Greer McCoy. She worked at the Walhalla Garment Plant and was a member of Turning point Church of God. Mrs. Reid was a homemaker and always cherished her time with her family, friends and grandchildren. She loved to garden and you never left her house without her giving you something to take with you. Mrs. Reid encouraged those she loved and loved to laugh and smile.

 

Mrs. Reid is survived by her daughters: Freddie Galbreath (Cecil) of Walhalla, SC, Linda Haynes of Walhalla, SC and Janice Singletary (Graham) of Westminster, SC and Rhonda Davis (Barry) of Mountain Rest, SC; sister: Sue Adams of Walhalla, SC; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.

 

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Reid was preceded in death by her brothers: John and Bill McCoy; and sisters: Bonnie Addis and Katherine Collins.
