Oconee’s Borg Warner 9th among top ten South Carolina projects in 2017

A magazine aimed toward executives and consultants to industry has named South Carolina one of four states deserving of a Silver Shovel award, and the state can thank its growing automotive sector for driving the award. The two biggest South Carolina achievements last year in the auto sector were the investments announced by Volvo in Berkeley County and by BMW in Spartanburg County. Each promises between one and two thousand jobs and investments of hundreds of millions of dollars. Helping qualify for the award was Oconee County’s Borg Warner plant near Seneca which announced a near $72 million investment and the addition of 160 jobs. Borg Warner’s Seneca expansion ranked ninth among the top 10 South Carolina projects in 2017.  Other Silver Shovel honors went to Arizona, Indiana, and Tennessee.
