OCONEE COUNTY REGIONAL AIRPORT RUNWAY CLOSURE

(Walhalla, SC) – Oconee County was recently awarded a $6,987,738.00 grant for the
Airport Runway Rehabilitation project. This was the result of Oconee County, the FAA
and the South Carolina Aeronautics Commission working together as a team to
continue to improve the Oconee County Regional Airport.

Beginning September 12, 2022, for a period of 60-90 days, the Oconee County Regional
Airport (KCEU) will be closing the runway, to include the taxiways and grass, for these
improvements. As with any project, the time frame is dependent on weather, construction schedule, and material availability.

The Airport Runway Rehabilitation project addresses the existing age and the
continued pavement deterioration. Oconee County Regional Airport is proud that the
FAA, State and Local Government has approved funding for this project and prioritized the construction of the runway rehabilitation. Safety is our top priority and Oconee County is excited for the improvements to be completed and improve one of our valuable resources.

Takeoffs and landings on the parallel taxiway are not authorized due to the close proximity of tied down aircraft on the nearby ramps. Takeoffs and landings from the grassy area north of the runway, will also not be permitted.

The Oconee County Regional Airport would like to thank everyone in advance for their
patience and understanding during this very important construction project and apologize for any inconvenience. Citizens and patrons may contact the Airport Director, Jeff Garrison, with any questions at 864-882-2959.
