North Carolinian face Oconee safecracking charges

A North Carolina man apprehended in Pickens County is charged with safecracking in Oconee County.  According to the Oconee Sheriff’s Office, two separate investigations led to the arrest Thursday of Christopher Nathan Stephens.  The 34-year old Stephens and his Nissan Xterra were discovered on the side of Old Seneca Road in Pickens.  And authorities allege that a tire and a wheel matched the ones stolen from a Chevy Tahoe at the Lawrence Bridge boat ramp.  According to Oconee authorities, Stephens faces charges of safecracking of money-lock boxes at two Oconee-owned recreation areas.  The accused is a resident of the Whittier community in Jackson and Swain counties, North Carolina.
