The NFC South is bracing for a shakeup as the Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons finalized their initial 53-man rosters, marked by aggressive defensive additions, devastating offensive line injuries, and a looming quarterback controversy.   In Atlanta, newly minted head coach Kevin Stefanski is initiating his era with a historic logjam at quarterback, uniquely carrying four signal-callers on the active roster: Tua Tagovailoa, Michael Penix Jr., Cooper Rush, and Jack Strand. While Tagovailoa has endured a rocky training camp, the coaching staff is holding off on naming a Week 1 starter against the Steelers as they closely monitor Penix Jr.’s recovery from a recent health scare.  The Falcons also sent shockwaves through the division by waiving three-year veteran defensive lineman Zach Harrison and trading cornerback Clark Phillips III to Chicago for massive defensive tackle Gervon Dexter Sr.. On Monday evening, they further adjusted by placing linebacker JD Bertrand on injured reserve and elevating veteran Josh Woods to the active roster.  Meanwhile, in Charlotte, general manager Dan Morgan made a dramatic splash by signing veteran linebacker Bobby Okereke to a one-year deal to anchor the defense. However, that defensive triumph was quickly shadowed by a critical blow to the offense; versatile lineman Brady Christensen was placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, forcing him to miss at least the first four games of the season.  To salvage their blocking depth, the Panthers quickly claimed center Corey Bullock off waivers from the Ravens, cutting ties with former fourth-round draft pick Chandler Zavala. Under center, rookie sensation Haynes King officially won the third-string quarterback spot over veteran Kyle Trask, securing his place behind Bryce Young.  Both Atlanta and Carolina kick off the season on September 13th.
