New camp opens Saturday at Pickens County state park

Duke Energy and the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism will formally open the new Camp Cedar Creek at 10 o’clock Saturday morning at the Keowee-Toxaway State Park in Pickens County. Leading the event will be state PRT Director Duane Parish and Kodwo Ghartey-Tagoe, Duke’s South Carolina president. Camp Cedar Creek is a new recreation facility developed as part of Duke’s re-licensing process. It offers easy access from highway 11, three camping cabins, 10 tent campsites, a bathhouse, a meeting hall, two picnic shelters, a restroom facility, fishing pier and a portage trail to Lake Keowee. Refreshments will be served and there’ll be opportunities to tour the property. The event is outdoors, so please dress appropriately.
