Net Doctors v. the city of Seneca

A judge says she intends to make her ruling correct in a case brought by Net Doctors against the city of Seneca.  Earlier this year Seneca ended its 13-year relationship with its internet service provider, but the parting was unsatisfactory to Jeff Hopkins of Net Doctors.  After today’s two-hour, non-jury trial, Seneca Magistrate Erin McKinney told both sides to expect her decision “in a week or so.”  Hopkins has filed a claim for $7,500 plus costs to satisfy on-call services he provided for 30 days after the official separation February 8.  He told McKinney because Seneca is his city he felt obligated to assist in the transition to the city’s replacement internet provider AE Tech Consulting.  But city attorney Bo Bowman argued that no one from the city authorized Net Doctors to provide on-call services for 30 days.  And Bowman’s position was reinforced by Scott Moulder.  The city administrator testified that neither, he nor, anyone else with the city authorized the on-call assistance. Among the exhibits the city offered in the trial was a recording made by a city employee of a January 8 meeting with Hopkins, a meeting at which the city’s relationship with Net Doctors was officially terminated.  Parts of that recording were played during today’s trial.
