MLB prospect to make cross-country move

A prospect for major league baseball, who has ties to Seneca, is staking his chances with another club.  Tis the season of free agents, and Michael Gettys has left the San Diego Padres’ organization for the Boston Red Sox.  He’s an outfield prospect with power capability, having clubbed 31 home runs in the minor leagues’ last season, 2019.  Gettys’ grandparents are Donna and Wayne Morton of Seneca.  For the Mortons, their grandson’s move will likely give them a better chance at watching his play on this side of the country rather than the other.  Gettys has an invite in February to rain with the Red Sox at Fort Myers, Florida.
