Mid-day deadline faces political aspirants

A deadline of the noon hour today is in front of all Oconee residents inside three county districts who would like to serve on the board that decides policy for the public schools.  Trustee seats for Districts 2, 4, and 5 are to be voted on during the November General Election and candidates who offer for them do not declare political party affiliations.  By yesterday afternoon, the November 3 contests shaped up this way:  Meghan Ketterman is challenging incumbent Joe Rukat in District Two; incumbent Denise McCormick remained the lone candidate in District Four.  By yesterday, the District Five field included the incumbent, Buddy Herring, and newcomers Sammy Grant and Earnestine Williams.  Others who’d like to qualify should obtain a filing packet from the office of the Oconee Superintendent of Education.
