Medical re-hab hospital to be built near Seneca

A New Mexico-based medical rehabilitation service has chosen Oconee County to build its first facility in the Carolinas.  Jamie Gilbert of the Oconee Economic Alliance said Clear Sky Health chose Oconee, after also considering Pickens County.  Clear Sky Health of Albuquerque plans a 36-bed facility that, Gilbert says, will be situated within a ten-minute drive of Prisma Health Oconee.  The re-hab hospital will offer care to patients recovering from disabling injuries or illnesses such as strokes, brain injuries, hip fractures, spinal injuries, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, or other complex conditions.  According to the announcement, the plan is to treat more than 650 patients a year and bring to the area about 100 new jobs.  Gilbert says the location for the new facility is close to being secured.
