Mediation deadline passes in short-term rental case

101.7/WGOG NEWS has learned the Oconee Common Pleas Court will send out letters to the attorneys in Chace versus Seneca to ascertain the status of mediation proceedings. The mediation period, which was set to expire late last week, was designed as an attempt by the parties to reach a settlement of the attack that the Chaces, an Atlanta couple, have made on Seneca’ rules as they apply to houses being rented for short-term purposes. The Chaces own a home in White Oak Cliffs. They are appealing in the circuit court a citation against them from Seneca for violating the city’s short-term rental rules. Since the filing of the challenge, the city has taken steps to amend its policy. An amended short-term rental policy is on its way to the city council.
