Mary Medford Martin

Walhalla, SC — Mary Medford Martin, also known as “Pat,” “Big Mama,” “May-Rye Meds,” 80, wife of the late Glenn C. Martin, of 125 Mary Glenn Lane, Walhalla, passed away Monday, April 22, 2019, at her home.

 

A native of Oconee County, Mrs. Martin was the daughter of the late Gifford E. and Daisy S. Bivens Medford.  Mrs. Martin was a retired office manager. She was a member of College St. Baptist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir and volunteering with the church food bank. Mrs. Martin was an avid reader and loved cross-stitching and crossword puzzles.

 

Mrs. Martin is survived by her sons: Richard M. Martin of Walhalla, SC and Robert “Bob” Heath Martin (Lizet) of Antioch, TN; daughters: Stephenie M. Hinson (Marty) of Walhalla, SC and Shannon M. Martin of Tamassee, SC; grandchildren: Mary Jones, Chris Jones, Daisy Gillespie, Rebekah Hinson and Christmas Martin; great-grandchildren: Braeden, Abbigail and Allison; brothers: Allen L. Medford of O’Fallon, IL, David L. Medford of Piney, Manitoba, Canada.

 

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by a grandson; Coty Herron; sister: Catherine Thomason; and brothers: Dillard E. Medford and Thomas L. Medford.

 

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 28, 2019, at Oconee Memorial Park in Seneca, SC.
