Mary Jean Winkler

West Union, SC — Mary Jean Winkler, 77, of West Union, wife of the late Ralph Henry Winkler, passed away August 29, 2026 at Oconee Memorial Hospital.

 

A native of Oconee County, Mrs. Winkler was the daughter of the late Lester Curtis Holbrooks and Miriam Anderson Holbrooks. She retired early to become a devoted grandmother and matriarch of her family. She was a selfless grandmother who devoted her life to raising and caring for her grandchildren and sisters. Mrs. Winkler was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.

 

Mrs. Winkler is survived by her daughters: Stacey Winkler and Tracey Winkler Johnson (Joe); sisters: Judy King, Becky Davis, Nancy Flowers, Linda Thompson (Harrison), and Marlene Hunnicutt; sister-in-law: Brenda Winkler Dean; grandchildren: James Iseli (Courtney), Paige Hayes (Charles), Madison Thompson (Jonathan Wilbur), Alexis Johnson (Diego Davila); and great-grandchildren: Gaines Iseli, Gage Hayes, Charlie Iseli, Alonzo Davila, Blake Iseli, and Grayson Hayes.

 

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Winkler was preceded in death by her brother: Curtis Holbrooks.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, September 3, 2026 at Davenport Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Heritage Memorial Gardens.

 

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM, Thursday, September 3, 2026, prior to the service, at Davenport Funeral Home.
