MARILYN JONES

Westminster– Marilyn Virginia Duke Jones, 91, wife of the late Johnny Dale Jones, passed away on Thursday, December 28th, 2023 at Lila Doyle Post-Acute.

 

Born in Illinois, Marilyn was the daughter of the late William Patton and Pherna Reed Duke.  Marilyn was a devout wife and mother who loved her family dearly. You’d often find her in the kitchen cooking up her family’s favorites for Sunday lunch. There was never a time where the food ran out whether there were 10 family and friends showing up or 20. Over the years, she served in various capacities including Executive Board Member of the S.C. State WMU, Associational WMU Council, Associational WMU Director, WMU Director at Westminster Baptist Church, and Anderson-Oconee Council on Aging Board Member. She was a member of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution, Walhalla Chapter. She was an active member of Westminster Baptist Church and a member of the Agnes Morgan Sunday School Class. Marilyn had a heart for missions and was privileged to serve on mission teams throughout her lifetime.

 

Marilyn is survived by her son, Michael Jones (Vicki); daughters, Joyce Jones Barrett (Lee), Jacquelyn Jones Ansley (Jerry), Kimberly Jones Lynch (Scott); brothers, David Duke (Bea), Charles Duke (Connie), William Duke; grandchildren, Joseph Barrett (Katalyn), Jason Tannery (Mary), Macy Weaver (Patrick), Britton Bruno (Jonathan), Aaron Moses (Anna), Andrew Lynch (Mardita), Chase Simpson (Rachel), Chatham Jones, Anna Lynch; great-grandchildren, Carter Barrett,  Matalyn Barrett, Sydney Barrett, Calhoun Tannery, Owen Tannery,  Isaac Weaver, Carly Weaver,  Grayden Bruno, Koda Moses, Khloe Moses, Aidyn Simpson, Ramsey Simpson, Eli Towe, Asher Jones; and one great-great-grandchild, Emersyn-Jru Walker.

 

In addition to her parents and husband, Marilyn is preceded in death by her daughter, Joni Jones Lentine; brother, Paul Duke; and her great-grandson, Lachlan Tannery.

 

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, December 31, 2023, at Westminster Baptist Church with burial to follow at Heritage Memorial Gardens. The family will receive family and friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, prior to the service, at Westminster Baptist Church.
