LARRY WOOD

 Larry Adell Wood, age 80, of Walhalla, South Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, August 26^th, 2026, at Prisma Health Oconee Memorial Hospital.

Larry was born on March 16^th, 1946, in Walhalla, South Carolina, and was the son of the late Roberta and Beulah Maybelle Blakely Wood. Larry was a dedicated employee of the Oconee County School District, where he worked as a school bus mechanic until his retirement. He also served his community as a volunteer firefighter with the West Union Fire Department. A skilled mechanic, Larry worked in many auto body shops throughout the years and had a lifelong passion for automobiles. He especially enjoyed drag racing and spending time with his friends at the rifle range.

Larry is survived by his son, Larry “Lane” Lemond Wood; a sister, Regina Brown; nieces, Tammy Wood, Sherry Wood, and Samantha Brown-O’Kelley; great-niece, Cheyenne Brown; great-nephews, Nicholi Scott and Tristen Scott; and many beloved friends.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brother, Jackie Wood; and niece, Jessica Scott.

A Graveside Service will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, September 3^rd, 2026, at Heritage Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 6:00pm – 8:00pm, Wednesday, September 2^nd, 2026 at Sandifer Funeral Home.
