Large quilt block displayed at Oconee elementary school

The largest quilt block painted by the Upstate Heritage Quilt Trail has found a home at Oconee County’s Fair-Oak Elementary School. The county school district is sharing how this colored quilt block came to be. It is 14.4 by 12 feet and was inspired from a drawing by local artist Kevin Pope. With Pope’s approval, another artist–Robin Cooper—transferred the drawing into a design for the quilt. And Robin’s mother-in-law, Judy Dubose, pieced and quilted the original “Pope’s Pass” into a design for the quilt.
