Lakefront Clemson facility to carry family name

A new campus facility fronting Lake Hartwell will bear the name of the family of two Clemson friends.  The soon-to-open family and alumni center will be known as the Nieri Family Alumni and Visitors Center, the result of the couple’s pledge of $12.5 million.  The new building next to the lake near the Madren Center replaces the current and near 50-year-old alumni center on Daniel Drive. It will serve multiple purposes including the Class of 1944 Visitors Center, Office of Admissions, Board of Trustees office, Center for Career and Professional Development, Complex Corporation, and the Advancement Division.  Home builder Michael Nieri, a 1986 graduate, founded the Irmo-based Great Southern Homes.  Robyn Nieri, an East Carolina University graduate, started her career as director of a Columbia-based organization that helps low-income people and families reach and maintain self-sufficiency.
