Kirstyn Smith
Kirstyn Aubrey Hedden Smith, lovingly known as Kirstyn to her family and friends, passed away on May 3, 2025, at Prisma Greenville Memorial Hospital, just one day after celebrating her 26th birthday, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on May 2, 1999, in Seneca, South Carolina, Kirstyn’s radiant spirit and compassionate nature touched the lives of all who knew her. As the cherished daughter of William Hedden (Jessica) and Amanda Kerr, and sister to Kobe, Dillon, Alexis, Kennedi, and Ansley Hedden, she grew up surrounded by love and support. Her family, including her devoted husband, Thomas Cody Smith, her grandparents Mickey and Tonya Kerr, Betty and Rick Bishop, and Dennis Hedden (the late Ruby), were the cornerstones of her life, providing her with unwavering encouragement and joy.
Kirstyn’s academic journey was a testament to her dedication and passion for learning. She earned her Master of Education from Anderson University, a significant achievement that paved the way for her impactful career. As an Elementary Special Education Teacher with the Central Academy of the Arts, School District of Pickens County, Kirstyn’s commitment to her students was evident in her every action. Her ability to connect with children and inspire them to overcome challenges will be a lasting legacy in the community.
Her courage, thoughtfulness, and loving nature were the hallmarks of Kirstyn’s character. These attributes not only made her a remarkable educator but also a treasured friend and family member.
Kirstyn’s interests extended beyond her professional life, enriching her personal experiences and those of her loved ones. Her courageous spirit led her to embrace life’s adventures, while her thoughtful nature meant she was always there for a friend in need. The love she bestowed upon her family was immeasurable, and her presence as a wife, daughter, sister, Aunt Hun, and friend will be profoundly missed.
A Celebration of Life Service for Kirstyn will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, May 9th, 2025, at Sandifer Funeral Home with burial to follow at Heritage Memorial Gardens. The community will have the opportunity to pay their respects and honor the beautiful life of a woman who made an indelible mark on the hearts of many, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Thursday, May 8th, 2025, at Sandifer Funeral Home the night before the service, and 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, on Friday, May 9th, 2025 at Sandifer Funeral Home.
Kirstyn’s journey on earth may have been brief, but the impact of her loving, courageous, and thoughtful presence will be felt for generations to come. Her spirit, forever etched in the memories of her beloved family and friends, will continue to inspire kindness, resilience, and the pursuit of a life filled with purpose and joy.
