John Lewis Lee, Jr.

Fair Play, SC– John Lewis Lee, Jr., 76, husband of Dorothy (Dottie) Umberhandt Lee, of Fair Play, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 23, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

 

A native of Westminster, SC, born February 27, 1945, Mr. Lee was the son of the late John Lewis Lee, Sr., and Dovie Christine Suttles Lee and attended Full Gospel Temple. Mr. Lee proudly served his country and community. He was a Vietnam Veteran, a member of the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite of Greenville, SC, and a member of the Hejaz Shrine Temple of Greenville, SC. Following his retirement from Duke Power Energy, he became an avid full-time farmer.

 

Mr. Lee was a loving husband, father, papa, and friend. He enjoyed spending time with those he loved and sharing his famous words of wisdom with all that would lend an ear. He was passionate about his grandchildren and proudly attended school and sporting activities to show his support as much as he possibly could. He enjoyed having his kids and grandkids spend time at the farm, the lake-house, and taking family vacations to the mountains to enjoy Old Car and Antique Tractor Shows and Parades, Putt-Putt and anything that his Grands decided looked fun.

 

Mr. Lee is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 33 years Dottie; his sons: Travis Lee (Barbara) and Eddie O’Shields (Vickie); daughter: Stacy Briggs (Robbie); grandchildren: Caitlin Martin (Hunter), Blake O’Shields (Samantha), Haley Lee, Grant O’Shields, Logan Briggs, Tinsley Lee, Lucas, Matthew, and Ty Marr; great-granddaughters: Parker and Peyton Martin; Sisters: Janice Powell (Bob) and Greta Sexton (Jessie): brother: Harold Lee (Crissy); and a number of special and beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends.

 

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Davenport Funeral   Home with entombment to follow with a Military Honors Ceremony at Heritage Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

 

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM, Thursday, prior to the service at Davenport Funeral Home

The family is at the home. Davenport Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
