JERRY “TANK” RAY WIRTZ
Westminster, SC– Jerry “Tank” Ray Wirtz, 62, husband of Beth Smith Wirtz, of Westminster, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 27, 2024, and is now in the hands of Our Heavenly Father and his loving parents.
Born in Baltimore, MD, Jerry was the son of the late Lewis and Mary “Lib” Jackson Wirtz. He retired as an Assistant Operations Manager from Pioneer Water District. He was a devoted member of Westminster Wesleyan Church and a former member of Souls Harbor Baptist Church. Jerry loved the Lord and lived his Christian life as an example of a caring and loving man. He enjoyed hunting, fast cars, drag strips, and fixing things. His most treasured pastimes were sitting on the front porch drinking coffee and spending time with his family.
Jerry will be lovingly remembered by his wife Beth, and his children: Jeremy Wirtz (Jenny), Gus James (Kaycee), Gary “Pedie” Wirtz, Scott James (Teresa), Priscilla Sanford, and Kelly Gilliam (Austin); brothers: Michael Wirtz (Michelle) and Steve Wirtz (Donna); twenty-two grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his son: Timothy Wirtz; late wife: Cindy Certain Wirtz; and brothers: Jimmy Wirtz, Ronnie Wirtz, and Ricky Wirtz.
Jerry’s memory will remain in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the honor of knowing him.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Souls Harbor Baptist Church, with burial to follow at Heritage Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at Davenport Funeral Home.
