James Ronald “Ron” Sloan
Seneca, SC – James Ronald “Ron” Sloan, 77, husband of Ruth Ann Adamy Sloan, of 208 Indian Trail Road, Seneca, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home.
A native of Bowling Green, KY, Mr. Sloan was the son of the late Carmon Groves and Ida Lillian Hughes Sloan. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retried as a school teacher. Mr. Sloan was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Gideons International and Sumter Masonic Lodge, where he was a Past Master. He was the greatest father, grandfather and father-in-law anyone could have. Mr. Sloan was a member of Utica Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Sloan is survived by his sons: Chad Sloan (Beth) of Winnsboro, SC and Keith Phillips of Eastover, SC; daughter: Lynn Cunningham (Wayne) of Williamston, SC; brothers: Paul Sloan (Carolyn) of Fort Myers, FL, Bill Sloan (Nancy) of Orlando, FL and Donald Sloan (Deborah) of Lake City, FL; sister: Becky Sexton (Mike) of Fort Myers, FL; grandchild: Nichole Phillips; and great-grandchild: Brandi Gregson.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Sloan was preceded in death by his brother: Carmon Sloan; sister: Martha Pate; and granddaughter: Candace Cunningham.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday, September 11, 2020, at Davenport Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, September 12, 2020, at Utica Baptist Church.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 PM, Thursday, October 1, 2020, at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veteran’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Operation Underground Railroad, 755 S. Main St. #194
