James “Peanut” Boyd Crooks

Seneca, SC — It’s with our deepest sorrow, we announce that our most beloved son, brother, father, grandfather and friend, James “Peanut” Boyd Crooks, 55, passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at Oconee Memorial Hospital.

 

A native of Oconee County, Peanut is the son of Mary Louise Stone Crooks and the late Boyd Dewitt Crooks. He was a former employee at Lift Technologies. Peanut had many hobbies including: gun enthusiast, hunting, fishing, cooking, going to the flea market, traveling and rescuing stray cats.

Those who knew Peanut even just a little, lost as shining light in their lives. Peanut will be missed every day by his mother, children, brother, sisters, his companion of 15 years and many great friends.

 

In addition to his mother, Peanut is survived by his companion of 15 years: Melisa Chastain; sons: Joseph B. Crooks (Ashley) of Seneca, SC; Cody B. Crooks (Jessie) of Atlanta, GA; Matthew R. Crooks (Jennifer) of Seneca, SC; granddaughter: Paisley Crooks; brother: Chris Crooks of Seneca, SC; sisters: Laura Walters (Keith) of Walhalla, SC and Deborah Fricks (Jimmy) of Seneca, SC; and many nieces.

 

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM, Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at Davenport Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Heritage Memorial Gardens.

 

The family will receive friends from 3:00–4:00 PM, Wednesday, prior to the service, at Davenport Funeral Home.

 

Flowers are accepted.

 

The family is at their respective homes.
