Jackknifed truck closed one I-85 lane northbound

Northbound traffic on I-85 at Fair Play was re-routed into an emergency lane today as public safety responders dealt with a tractor-trailer truck that jackknifed and wound up in the median pressed against cable.  Chief Larry Wilkerson of the Fair Play Volunteer Fire Department said there were no injuries.  They were able to keep northbound traffic flowing by using an emergency lane and partially keeping open the right hand lane.  A small fuel leak developed from the damaged tank.  HAZMAT equipment was used to pump out the remaining fuel into portable drums.  The accident occurred at 10:39 this morning and, according to Wilkerson, the northbound lanes were completely reopened shortly after 1 o’clock.
