In progress now, mask debate at the trustees meeting

There appears little likelihood that the Oconee school trustees tonight will make any change to the rules that do not require students to wear masks in the classrooms and school buildings.  But the controversial topic got a lot of comment during the public’s part of the meeting when it is permissible to address the trustees directly.  Unlike last month’s meeting when the anti-mask members of the public out spoke those in favor of masks, tonight saw divided opinion.  Later in tonight’s meeting, the district’s public information officer is scheduled to make a report on “COVID Public Reporting”.  At this moment, Superintendent Dr. Thorsland is discussing current case figures compiled by the state health agency.  You can follow the meeting online through the district website’s school board link.  Click livestreaming.
