ICE takes custody of Oconee suspect
ICE, the Immigration and Custom Enforcement agency, took custody yesterday of an Oconee County criminal suspect. Oconee Sheriff’s Office announced that Wilson Nahun Figuero-Argueta of West Union was handed over yesterday morning, after the placement of an ICE detainer. Last month 20-year-old Figuero-Argueta was jailed locally on a charge of criminal sexual conduct with a minor second degree. The sheriff’s office gave this account: “At the time of reported incident back in 2022, Figuero-Argueta was 17 years old. According to Investigators, a juvenile who is charged with a Class A, B or C felony can be tried as an adult. The Investigator in the case also consulted with the 10th Circuit Solicitor’s Office. Figuero-Argueta was fingerprinted upon being booked into jail, which is standard procedure for anyone arrested and booked in the Oconee County Detention Center, regardless of immigration status. A check of Figuero-Argueta’s fingerprints by ICE revealed that he had an active federal warrant.” If the suspect returns to the U-S, he’ll face trial locally.
