Hunter dead after fall from tree stand
The death of a Townville man after a hunting-related accident is being investigated by the office of the Anderson County coroner. The victim, Michael K. Rogers, was 43 years old. While hunting late yesterday afternoon with his 11-year-old son, Rogers fell from a tree stand, according to Coroner Greg Shore. The coroner gave the following account: “The victim’s son initiated CPR on his father. EMS personnel arrived on scene and continued resuscitative efforts. The victim was transported by LifeFlight to AnMed Emergency Department. The decedent succumbed to injuries at 6:59 pm and was pronounced dead at the hospital.” The distance from the tree stand to the ground was about 18 feet. Shore added this: “The victim has been ill recently and may have fallen as a result of an underlined medical illness. The victim sustained a severe neck injury resulting in his death.” Besides the coroner’s office, the state DNR is investigating.
