Homicide by child abuse brings prison term

An Oconee County man has been sent to prison for 20 years—the result of yesterday’s plea in General Sessions Court to the charge of homicide by child abuse. McKenzie Lee Turner, 27 years old, appeared in court to answer allegations that he caused the death of his seven-month-old niece. Amy Genesis Stashluk died in 2012 at a Greenville hospital, after emergency workers went to Turner’s home and found a child not breathing. Arrest warrants charged that Turner dropped and shook his niece, resulting in her injuries.
