Gregory Joseph Poetz

Salem, SC– Gregory Joseph Poetz, 74, husband of Roseann Marie Lardenoit Poetz, of Salem, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.

A native of Indianapolis, IN, Gregory was the son of the late Joseph John and Eva Uline Poetz. A graduate of Eastern Michigan University, Greg spent his career with the K-Mart Corporation, retiring in 1999. He was on the board of directors for The Company Company Theatre in Charleston, SC and a huge fan of the University of Michigan. He enjoyed football, golfing, extensive travelling, and adventures with his three grandsons.

While living in retirement on the Isle of Palms, Greg, ever the people person, loved his job with Wild Dunes Resort. During retirement he enjoyed planning and taking trips across the globe with many friends and family. When he wasn’t traveling, he could be found indulging and sharing his love of food, theatre and hosting gatherings with friends. After relocating to Keowee Key in 2019 to be near his son’s family, Greg treasured every moment spent with his grandsons. He will be remembered as a beloved mentor as well as their grandpa.

As amazing a friend, grandpa, and dad as Greg was, he was an even better husband to the love of his life, Roseann. Married for 53 years, they were an incredible team, making enduring friendships, wherever they lived. Although he is already greatly missed, his legacy of love will live on through the impact he made on so many people throughout his life’s journey.
