Graham opposes Washington, DC statehood

Party lines divide the issue of Washington, DC becoming the 51st state.  And Lindsey Graham, Republican U-S senator from South Carolina, says he’ll vote no.  The U-S House Friday approved Washington, DC statehood, in a vote of 232-180.  South Carolina House members divided on political lines:  Democrats Clyburn and Cunningham in favor; Republicans Rice, Timmons, Wilson, and Norman against.  Graham says, “At its core, this is about trying to add two more Democratic voters in the U-S Senate, effectively cancelling out the votes of a state like South Carolina with two Republican senators.”
