George Moore

Westminster, SC — George Moore, 81, husband of Zenobia Sheriff Moore, of 206 Little Country Lane, Westminster, passed away Monday, February 26, 2018, at Richard M. Campbell Veteran’s Nursing Home.

 

A native of Walhalla, SC, Mr. Moore was the son of the late Elbert Lambkin and Maybelle Carver Moore. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Duke Power as a pipe fitter. Mr. Moore never met a stranger and was a member of the Walhalla Football “Chain Gang” for many years. He was a devoted member of Coneross Baptist Church.

 

Mr. Moore is survived by his daughters: Pamela Johnson (Stanley) of Seneca and Tracy Phillips of Greenville; grandchildren: Nicole Cobb (Cody), Kayla Holland (Barry), Zac Phillips, Grayson Phillips and Jackson Phillips; great-grandchild: Keagan Holland; and step great-grandchild: Brayden Holland.

 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Moore was preceded in death by eighteen brothers and sisters. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

 

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Thursday, March 1, 2018, at Coneross Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

 

The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 PM, Thursday, prior to the service, at Coneross Baptist Church.

 

The family asks that members of his Sunday School class serve as honorary pallbearers.
