George Burney Libby

Westminster – George Burney Libby, 75, went to his Heavenly Father Monday, June 8, 2020 at Prisma Cottingham Hospice House.

George was born in Asheville, NC to Waldo Edwin Libby III and Catherine Addie Wilson Libby. George was employed by Beacon Manufacture, Swannanoa, NC and Westminster, SC as a Dye house manager. He retired from Greenfield Industries, Seneca where he worked in quality control. George was a long-time volunteer at Oconee Memorial Hospital and served at Foothills Community Church where he was a member. He was a kind man with a gentle soul, a friend to all. He always had a smile on his face and loved to make people laugh. His favorite hobby was golf, which he played with friends and family.

Surviving are his devoted wife of 43 years Myra Libby; sister; Ballard Rogan (Larry), of Lake Toxaway, NC, Sons; George B. Libby III (Lita) of McKinney, TX, Gregory Libby (Heather) Longwood FL, daughter; Stephanie Rich of Pega Cay, SC, and 10 grand-children and 3 great grandchildren.

George is preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Waldo Edwin Libby IV, and Philip Lawson Libby.
