Four taken to hospitals after rural traffic accident

At this hour, the state patrol is described “deep into investigation” of an accident that occurred this morning near a curve on a rural Oconee County road. A total of four people, including three youngsters, are reported to have been sent to two different hospitals with what the patrol spokesman called non-life threatening injuries. The accident involved a car and a pickup truck-type vehicle on Mountain Road at Plant Road. According to the patrol, the circumstances of the accident were that the Hyundai automobile went off the right side of Mountain Road at a curve, over-corrected, and the rear end of the Hyundai spun into the front end of an oncoming Honda pickup. The injured were identified as an elderly pickup driver and three juveniles, one believed to be 15 years old, who were traveling in the Hyundai. The accident was reported just after 9 this morning.
