First reading in title only

John Elliott, District One county councilman, says he wants to see the changes that the county has in mind for the first-year Corinth-Shiloh special tax district.  The county council last night gave first reading in title only to ordinance 2026-23.  Elliott said he wants to see next week what’ll be in the new ordinance.  As explained to 101.7/WGOG NEWS by Wayne Smith, chairman of the Corinth-Shiloh board, the county council seeks to replace popular elections of the five-member board and replace them with appointments by council.  A second change would require Corinth-Shiloh to seek county council approval of any budget figured higher than the 25 mill tax limit currently in place.
