Fire victims can benefit from donations

Fire destroyed the home of a three-member Walhalla family this morning on Abbott Lane, a short, dead-end street near the Playground Road.  According to fire chief Burton, at the time, a propane gas tank was being re-filled and it appears the fire originated there.  The family of Tonia and David Watson lost all possessions, and a community drive is being established to help them rebuild their lives.  Burton says Mr. Watson, a Pickens County paramedic, and Tonia are well known for their service in the medical world.  Mr. Watson is an Upstate EMS instructor.  You can donate to the Watsons at Community First Bank and at St. Luke United Methodist Church.  The church requests that if you write a check, please make it payable to the church, with the name Watson on the check memo line.
