Fire Station #23

Oconee County has announced the opening of a new fire substation. Foxwood Hills Fire Substation #23 at 1600 Blackjack Road is the second of eight stations to be built, as part of the county’s fire service improvement plan. It will house a single engine company and a reserve engine to serve residents and businesses located along the Blackjack and the Dr. John’s Road areas. According to Oconee Fire Chief Charlie King, the Foxwood station will be operated by the 25-plus volunteers of the South Union Fire Department. The public is invited for open house 2 to 4 o’clock Sunday afternoon, January 6. There will be open tours, fire prevention activities, fire truck displays, and refreshments.
