Final vote numbers certified by canvassers

In today’s meeting of the Oconee Board of Canvassers, two failsafe votes were added to the totals for Tuesday’s candidates for a seat on the Walhalla City Council.  Official winner Gwen Owens finished with 88 votes and Christy Marlow wound up with 46 votes.  The unexpired term to which Owens is elected will run through the rest of 2021, meaning that the full term will be available during the city’s regular 2021 election in November.
